Ugandan security forces have said they repelled coordinated attacks on police stations over the weekend in several districts, including Kasese on the western border. The attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 20 assailants, who the authorities described as criminals wielding firearms and machetes.
The police have specifically dismissed speculations that the attacks could be linked to a cultural kingdom in the west or the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
