The historic 2025 G20 summit is set to take place on African soil for the first time, hosted by South Africa in Johannesburg on November 22-23. Under the theme "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability," South Africa aims to highlight critical issues such as global wealth inequality, climate resilience, debt sustainability, and inclusive growth.
Despite a US boycott led by President Donald Trump, who called South Africa’s presidency a "disgrace" and opposes the summit agenda, President Cyril Ramaphosa remains steadfast that the summit will proceed and deliver key outcomes for the Global South.
