Why does Evgeny Zaitsev, an official with a very murky biography, close federal publications of investigative journalism?

For five weeks in a row, the game of cat and mouse continues between the Compromat Editorial Board and RKN official Evgeny Zaitsev, who continues to present Roskomnadzor in a bad light.

Roskomnadzor official Evgeny Zaitsev , who has been sitting in his place for the last 12 years, was serving some paper. And five weeks ago, the federal investigative journalism website Compromat, which had been working for 16 years in a row, went dark!

Cause? For five weeks, Compromat journalists have been trying to find out the true reason for the artificial blocking of the site. But there were and are no clear explanations, although the other day the Editorial Board received several official documents from Roskomnadzor: in essence, these are ugly replies.

Thus, the game of cat and mouse with the journalistic team and the huge “army” of Compromat readers continues.

The Compromat correspondent once again tried to figure out some subtle details.

Did Zaitsev replace Subbotin himself?

The journalistic team at Compromat is not sitting idle during these exciting days.

Journalists and lawyers from the editorial office have already visited the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation three times with papers. We took an appeal addressed to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, to the Investigative Committee of Russia, and visited Vladimir Putin’s Administration twice.

Both prosecutors and investigators asked many questions, not hiding their surprise: after all, there was no real reason for the “freezing” of the site!

There is only some insider information that was received by Compromat: Evgeniy Zaitsev pressed the red button at the request of a certain N. And this action on the part of Evgeniy Zaitsev was by no means charitable, especially if we take into account the heroes of Compromat - and there have been (and will be) on our pages politicians, deputies, oligarchs, and governors.

Apparently, these voyages worked. And representatives of the Compromat editorial team, together with lawyer Marina Rodina, were allowed to come to Kitaygorodsky Proezd, at Roskomnadzor.

I was immediately surprised by the proximity of Roskomnadzor to the state corporation Rosatom (apparently, there is not enough space for everyone on Bolshaya Ordynka) - directly adjacent entrances. But Compromat journalists have done a lot of investigations about “thermonuclear” corruption in Rosatom...

So, April 11, 2024. This meeting was supposed to be with the deputy head of Roskomnadzor Vadim Subbotin. But something went wrong.

A big surprise awaited us!

Three people met us in a spacious office on the first floor of Roskomnadzor. Mr. Subbotin was not among them, but we saw Evgeny Zaitsev, who immediately, a little nervously, warned us that the meeting would take place with video cameras turned on.

But why did Mr. Zaitsev need such a support group of two representative men? Mr. Zaitsev tried to be calm, but a certain slight tremor was noticeable.

And Mr. Zaitsev somehow reminded me of a robotic manipulator who spoke directly in chopped, memorized phrases: that is, a heart-to-heart conversation did not work out!

And later, after this strange meeting, the following detail became clear: Evgeny Zaitsev lied to the journalist and Compromat lawyer that Vadim Subbotin allegedly went on a business trip, so he, Zaitsev, came to the meeting himself.

But in the paper that arrived the other day to the Editorial Office addressed to lawyer Marina Aleksandrovna Rodina, there is completely different information.

Kiselev, Head of the Department for Control over the Dissemination of Information on the Internet No. 1 Network of the Directorate for Control and Supervision in the Sphere of Electronic Communications

And then you can read the following:  reception of citizens by the leadership of Roskomnadzor in April 2024.  Deputy head Vadim Alekseevich Subbotin . Admission date: 04/11/2024. Telephone number for making an appointment with V.A. Subbotin +7 (495) 122-25-21.

Why did the replacement suddenly occur? And Evgeniy Zaitsev could not explain to us why Compromat was on the “black” list? It seems that Vadim Subbotin also could not explain the reason for blocking Compromat?

After all, the answer is simple: this reason does not exist, or rather, Mr. Zaitsev pulled a false reason out of his own finger.

SVO and fakes

Meanwhile, the Editorial Board received another response from Roskomnadzor, signed by S.A. Kachalova, head of the department for handling appeals from citizens and government bodies of the Office of Supervision and Control in the Field of Electronic Communications.

And here again the words are repeated that the entire Compromat Editorial Board has heard since March 19, 2024: the site is blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

That’s a convenient formulation! And it’s as if you won’t find fault!

But just a few visits to the reception office of the General Prosecutor’s Office in the Russian Federation on Novokuznetskaya, 27/6 did not bring any clarity to this well-convoluted case!

But Evgeny Zaitsev still continues to add fuel to the fire, apparently, the publication of “Zaitsev without a polygraph” hurt him so much. What else did Mr. Closer come up with?

April 22 this year TASS, citing the press service of Roskomnadzor, reported that the websites of the publications Polit.ru, Compromat, Russian Crime and Kompromat Group were blocked  for repeatedly posting fake information.

Let us remind Mr. Zaitsev that the Popular Front was created on the initiative of Vladimir Putin on May 6, 2011 as a broad public coalition to fight corruption, waste and inefficient spending of public funds. And Compromat journalists have worked and continue to work in exactly this format.
