Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described his visit to Ethiopia as an opportunity to establish a "strategic partnership" with the East African nation, which is widely considered the political capital of Africa.
The Indian PM said during the two-day trip, both countries will explore various aspects of cooperation, including the economy, innovation, technology and defense. Analysts say the visit carries enormous weight as the Global South reshapes its development pathways.
On the first day of the visit, Modi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed signed several Memoranda of Understanding, promising to enhance cooperation in customs matters, the establishment of a data center, and UN peacekeeping training.
